MICS

MICS, aka Mastery in Communication Skills, is an initiative by the English department that seeks to improve the pupils' communication skills. Pupils are sent on a course conducted by an external trainer and at the end, will need to sit for an external oral interview with an examiner, kind of like the Piano examinations.

The initiative was introduced this year, with some of the Pri 2 pupils being coached and subsequently tested, as there are 3 components to the interview - Self-Introduction, Description of an object of the pupil's choice, and lastly, Story Telling.

Wayne, Michelle and I were roped in to help the pupils prepare for their interview in 4 weeks' time; so since last Friday, we have been going through the pupils' scripts with them, and giving them pointers as to how to improve.

So in a way, I'm quite happy that we managed to impart some of the things that we learnt in our ALK module to the pupils, such as projection of voice, how to 'hide' your nervousness, etc.

I just hope that the pupils will do well, and on my part, will do my best to prepare them for it.
