One thing I've noticed about the teachers in the school, not just those that I've observed, is that there are a lot of things that they need to prepare, not only teaching resources, but also additional worksheets, etc for their pupils.
For example in the Pri 2 English class, the teacher will try to source for pictures or the actual items which she covered in class, like Chapteh, Kuti Kuti, 5 stones, etc. so that pupils who are visual or kinesthetic learners can do so effectively.
In the Pri 4 Maths class, the teacher prepares small games or quizzes that are both educational and fun so that her pupils will enjoy themselves while learning. One example is when she taught the topic on 'Conversion of fractions to decimals'. Through a game of 'Decimal Snap', the pupils learn to convert the fractions that they are given into the decimals mentally so that they can 'snap' on the corresponding decimal. I could see that the pupils really enjoyed themselves and were learning at the same time.
In the Pri 4 Social Studies class, the teacher made use of the video clip and photos that she took when she brought her class on a field trip to Kampong Glam to tune her pupils into the actual lesson.
Thus, I realized that as a teacher, you really need to plan ahead of your lesson and constanly look out for suitable materials and resources that you can use for your lessons in the future.
